According to a survey by the University of Phoenix, more than half of the workers polled want to change careers. Interestingly, those with higher status jobs like Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer are more interested changing careers than the typical office worker. If you guessed younger workers are more interested in changing careers than workers in the forties or fifties, you are correct–but a midlife crisis may be just around the corner. What do these people want from their jobs? In a word, they want to be inspired.
If you ask someone to make a list of the things that inspire them, it’s not always easy to do. The same goes for a list of what they love about their job. So maybe the place to start is by making a list of things you don’t like and don’t want to do at work. Not surprisingly, this list will be easy to complete.
