Day Jobs

I have often thought about making a sign that says, “Will play for for food.” My “job” involves a great deal of creativity, but there is something special about writing, recording, and performing music. I know I am not going to be a rock star, but I have been playing a lot of gigs lately and loving it. When someone says they want to be a painter, writer, actor, or musician it always seems like an all-or-nothing proposition. Since we live in the real world (Think: bills to pay) we may have to reconcile the fact we can create on the side as a way of finding fulfillment from our artistic endeavors. What do you want to do but are holding back until the time is just right? I say, do it now even if it’s on a small scale.
